Welcome to Mrs. Owens' science homepage. The Flow of Energy and Matter Dear Student, Welcome to 7th grade science. I am excited that we will be exploring the flow of energy and matter in science this year. I have one simple expectation of you this year: you will try your best and experience success in science. To accomplish this goal, you will need to understand how I have organized the class. Listed below is information that will be helpful to you. Mrs. Leigh Owens Course Content The first unit will focus on applying science skills: learning about observations, inferences, scientific method, experimental design, laboratory safety and equipment, the atmosphere, and weather phenomena. The second unit addresses forecasting weather as well as heredity and genetics. The third unit deals with life processes and body systems, and introduces forces and motion. The last unit expands on forces and motion. A good deal of learning takes place through hands-on exploration in the lab. In addition, there will be a project assigned each quarter. Organizational skills will be emphasized all year.
