Shodor
Site Info: Shodor is a non-profit research and educational organization focused on providing modeling and simulation technologies for the advancement of science and mathematics education for grades 1-12 and college level. For a given activity, Shodor provides a student and teacher interactive activity tool, a learner and teacher information link, and a student help section Directions: Under the topic Learners, select the appropriate option. The option Activities provides students with fun activities and interactive tools on various math concepts. The option Dictionary provides information for various math terms encountered on the site. The last option Tools provides students with additional online interactive tools (this is a subset of the option Activities).
Illuminations
Site Info: Facilitated by NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics), Illuminations is an organization providing standards-based resources which support the learning of mathematics for grades preK-12. This particular site is segmented into interactive tutorial student activities. Directions: Select the grade level, then press the search button. The page lists several interactive tools to help a student better understand the math concept. Note: Located in the top right hand corner of this page, the NCTM E-Examples icon provides additional online interactive tools to help students better understand concepts.
Explore E-Learning
Site Info: ExploreLearning publishes online library of computer-based manipulatives for math and science, and offers a variety of interactive simulations in mathematics and science for teachers and students in grades 6-12. Online simulations, called Gizmos, provides a flexible environment to allow for different teaching styles. Gizmos provides instructional strategies, and are designed as supplemental curriculum materials that follow state and national curriculum standards. Directions: From the home page, select the Browse Gizmos tab. Select the appropriate math topic under the Browse Gizmo by Grade and Topic heading. Under your selected topic heading, select the appropriate math concept. For your selected math concept, choose the appropriate interactive Gizmo by selecting the Launch Gizmo option.
Calculator Online
Site Info: Instacalc provides a fast, simple, and powerful calculator. Instacalc is similar to excel, but provides answers instantaneously. Directions: At the bottom of the home page are a few examples to help you understand the process of retrieving answers to your questions. I suggest selecting the Take the Tour option located in the upper right hand corner; which provides a thorough overview of this interactive tool.
TI (Texas Instruments)
Site Info: TI (Texas Instrument) works with educators throughout the world in designing and developing classroom technology. As a result, their products, training and support materials are well-researched and tested, providing appropriate solutions. Directions: TI provides Products, Downloads, and Activities that might help in your quest to better understand your math concept.

Ask Dr. Math
Site Info: Ask Dr. Math is a question and answer service for math students and their teachers. A searchable archive is available by level and topic, as well as summaries of Frequently Asked Questions (the Dr. Math FAQ). Directions: Under #1 Browse Archives, select the appropriate option. The option Middle School, provides a list of math concepts. Selecting a math concept further provides detailed explanations to questions that you might have.
